Rejuran (婴儿针) is a range of polynucleotide injectables originating from South Korea. Rejuran contains polynucleotide (PN) as its main component, an active ingredient derived from salmon DNA, which has been shown to promote anti-ageing, skin healing and skin rejuvenation properties. PN in Rejuran is a purer and more concentrated form of salmon DNA containing longer DNA chains, which makes Rejuran treatment longer lasting compared to other PDRN injections. Because of its similarity to human DNA, PN is known to have high biocompatibility with human skin, making Rejuran a suitable skin treatment for most people.
PN in Rejuran works by promoting fibroblasts in the skin. Fibroblast is a metabolic activity that happens in the cells of the skin. When this process commences, the skin develops new collagen, glycoproteins, and glycosaminoglycans. These are anti-aging skin components that enable the skin to look young. As the body gets old, it is no longer able to actively produce these anti-aging components. PN enhances the body’s ability to produce the said components once it is injected into the skin.
Mechanically, PN is made up of a 3-dimensional structure that allows the fibroblast to happen and produce its desired effect on the skin cells. PN supplies the body with a solid foundation where DNA fusion can initiate. A new DNA is formed once the PNs are processed by the body into purines and pyrimidines through recovered passageways.
At Veritas, we offer the following types of Rejuran:
Rejuran Healer – medium viscosity 2ml
Rejuran Healer is the most common type of Rejuran administered in Singapore. Rejuran Healer is an anti-ageing injectable that works to restore youthful skin and is suitable for general rejuvenation, as well as to treat wrinkles and fine lines on the face and neck. Patients can expect improved skin elasticity, smoother skin texture and reduced wrinkle appearance following Rejuran Healer treatment.
Rejuran S (Scar) – higher viscosity
Rejuran S can be administered deeply into the skin and is ideal for treatment of acne scars. Due to its high concentrated and viscosity, Rejuran S effectively promotes tissue restoration and plumps up the skin. This can be combined with subcision treatment, where Rejuran S is injected after subcision to fill the sunken scars and stimulate collagen under the scars. Rejuran S can also be combined with fractional laser to treat acne scars.
Rejuran is a highly versatile treatment for a wide range of skin conditions:
Veritas is a recipient of the Rejuran Elite award 2022 based on professional clinical experience and demonstrated expertise in administering Rejuran with excellent procedural technique.
Is Rejuran injection safe?
Research has shown that salmon DNA is compatible with the body’s use. It is also safe and does not cause any side effects. Scientists have found that human DNA and salmon DNA are very similar. Rejuran uses salmon DNA that has undergone a purification process in order to get rid of other elements like proteins that can cause allergic reactions on the skin. Therefore, Rejuran treatment is generally safe and has many benefits, which includes reducing fine lines, minimising pores and improving overall skin condition. The treatment, however, may not be suitable for those who are allergic to salmon or seafood.
How is Rejuran treatment administered?
Initially, a generous amount of numbing cream is applied onto the skin which takes around 20 minutes to take effect. After this, the doctor proceeds to perform the treatment. A fine needle and syringe are used to inject minimal amounts of Rejuran into the layer of the skin. The procedure is quick and can be done in 10 minutes or less. The doctor may prescribe antibiotic creams to help in the fast healing of the target area. A mask may also be given during the recovery period after injecting Rejuran.
What is the difference between Rejuran and Skin Boosters?
Rejuran may have similar properties to skin boosters, but they are quite different. The main component of Rejuran is PN/PDRN/DNA, while the main component for Skin boosters is Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid promotes hydration and texture improvement. Hyaluronic Acid is also a common ingredient in dermal fillers. Rejuran is used to reverse signs of ageing, while skin boosters is used for a dewy and luminous complexion all thanks to Hyaluronic Acid.
How many sessions of Rejuran Healer treatment do I need?
For initial treatment, the procedure should be done at least three to four times in an interval of 2 to 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, check in with your doctor. Maintenance may be done either once or twice a year.
What results can I expect after Rejuran Healer treatment?
Rejuran Healer is best suited for individuals with signs of skin ageing. After using Rejuran Healer, patients have reported younger and firmer looking skin.
