What is it?

Perfect Resurfacing is a combination fractional laser treatment that delivers two different laser beams divided into thousands of microscopic treatment zones (MTZ), targeting only a fraction of skin at a time. This is similar to a photographic image being enhanced or altered pixel by pixel.

This resurfacing treatment is a one-of-a-kind developed at VERITAS that simultaneously delivers the different fractional lasers in a single treatment. This type of treatment bridges the gap between the ablative and non-ablative laser techniques used to treat scars, aging and sun-damaged skin. While ablative lasers focus mainly on the epidermis, and non-ablative treatments work solely on dermal collagen, this multiple laser combination treatment works on both the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. Lasers such as the Erbium-glass (aka Fraxel Restore/Mosaic) laser can reach the deepest skin layers compared to other fractional laser wavelengths, with others like the fracPICO and Thulium (aka Fraxel Dual/LaseMD) targeting the middle layers, and lasers such as the CO2 and ErbiumYAG best for the superficial layers. Which treatment depends on your individual skin type and condition, and the treatment combination is tailored by your doctor.

Skin Conditions Treated

  • Mild to moderate photodamage
  • Mild to moderate wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Surgical scars
  • Actinic keratosis
  • Irregular texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Melasma
  • Periorbital wrinkles

How does it work?

Fractional laser treatment works by targeting all layers of the skin. The laser beam is divided into thousands of tiny but deep columns of treatment into the skin which are called the MTZs. Within each MTZ, old epidermal cells are expelled and the penetration that reaches the collagen in the dermal layer causes a reaction that leads to collagen remodeling and new collagen formation. Through the MTZs, the laser targets and intensively treats within the zone while surrounding healthy tissue remains intact and unaffected. These untouched areas are called “skip areas” which act as a nutritional and structural reservoir to provide the framework necessary for rapid healing.

The use of this non-ablative fractional laser combination ensures the deep skin layers are treated without hurting the skin surface (when superficial fractional lasers are not used), hence offering a low to no-downtime skin resurfacing treatment.

Why use PERFECT for resurfacing?

This resurfacing treatment is perfect for those looking for aggressive and deep laser resurfacing, without the downtime of other usual fractional lasers.

This unique approach of combining different fractional lasers make perfect sense: different people with different problems require different types of treatment. By combining the treatments in a single session, there are many unique combinations that are tailored for each individual and also a lot of time/cost saved with these sessions.

FAQs

This combination resurfacing is ideal for patients with skin laxity, facial sagging and scarring.

This combination resurfacing is well tolerated by most patients. Shaving or the application of mineral make-up can be done soon after treatment. In most cases, patients can already return to work directly after treatment or the next day, depending on their skin condition and treatment. Some of the side effects that may occur after aggressive fractional laser treatments include:

  • Mild swelling (common and temporary)
  • Mild rawness and sensitivity of skin (common)
  • Infection (very rare)
  • Prolonged erythema (very rare)
  • Contact dermatitis (very rare)
  • You may gently apply a cold pack over the area to promote better comfort.
  • Moisturise and sunblock well
  • Avoid exfoliating and use gentle cleansers during the healing phase, which could last up to 2 weeks.

With a specially engineered technique, this usually slightly painful treatment can be made completely painless! Most people associate Erbium Glass lasers with a lot of pain, hence they are not popular even though they give great results. A special treatment technique eradicates pain from this special laser.

This treatment only requires minimal downtime, allowing you to return to your usual activities within as little as a day or two. The downtime can be customised to your goals and also available healing period.

The total cost may vary for each patient because this will depend on the severity of each patient’s condition and the area affected. Please bear in mind that we customize our approach for each patient, which means that the components of your combination treatment may not necessarily be the same as the next person’s treatment. We suggest that you come in for a personal consultation so that our doctors can thoroughly assess your condition and map out a specific treatment plan and its corresponding quotation.
