Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is a form of photobiomodulation that uses light energy to stimulate cellular changes in our body. Completely non-invasive, LLLT can effectively treat aesthetic concerns such as wrinkles, pigmentation, and even hair loss, depending on the wavelengths emitted.
Yellow light (830nm/590nm) is excellent at reducing inflammation and is commonly to target scars, acne and pigmentation, as well as eczema and rosacea. Yellow light is also used for wound healing & pain relief, and is a great way to minimise any bruising and swelling after injections.

Red light (633nm) is commonly used to rejuvenate damaged skin tissues, as well as to promote hair regrowth. By stimulating tissue regeneration and collagen synthesis, red light is suitable for those concerned with signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles, and those who suffer from hair loss.
Blue light (415nm) can kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin and is often used in conjunction with other acne treatments such as AGNES for a more permanent solution. Blue light can also improve pigmentary conditions such as psoriasis and vitiligo.
HOW DOES LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY WORK?
LLLT makes use of non-ionising light sources, including lasers, light-emitting diodes, and/or broadband light, in the visible (400 to 700 nm) and near-infrared (700 to 1100 nm) electromagnetic spectrum.
During the procedure, different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light penetrate the deeper layers of the skin. This stimulates the fibroblasts, which increase the rate of collagen production.
As we age, the fibroblasts in our skin lose their ability to produce collagen and elastin — two components that keep our skin looking young, tight, and crease-free. The low levels of laser used in this treatment is enough to positively stimulate the fibroblasts and encourage collagen and elastin production. The increased production of these two proteins then reduces the signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines.
WHAT CAN LLLT TREAT?
LLLT can be used to treat:
- Fine Lines & Wrinkles
- Sagging & Skin Laxity
- Skin Pigmentation
- Hair Loss
- Acne
- Scars and stretch marks
- Sensitive Skin
- Eczema & Rosacea
- Wounds and Injuries
Depending on the wavelength of the light emitted, LLLT can be used to target and treat a wide range of conditions safely and effectively without any adverse side effects.
WHY CHOOSE LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY?
Due to LLLT’s different light wavelengths, it carries immense benefits that go beyond skin rejuvenation.
- Restores skin complexion for an effortless, youthful glow
- Accelerates collagen and elastin production for tighter skin
- Reduces fine lines with increased cell activity
- Retains moisture for improved hydration and elasticity
- Stimulates release of proteins for tissue repair for faster skin recovery
- Eliminates acne-causing bacteria, hence preventing future acne outbreaks
- Accelerates follicle activities and promotes hair growth and healthier scalp conditions
- LLLT helps to reduce swelling and heals the joints and soft tissue.

HOW DOES LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY COMPARE TO AT-HOME LED DEVICES?
There are many at-home devices that tout the benefits of LLLT or LED light and they often come in the form of a mask for the skin, or helmet for hair loss concerns. One significant difference is that at-home devices are much lower in energy. Secondly, many at-home devices cannot reach the precise wavelengths needed to induce the desired outcome. The correct wavelength and energy density are crucial in delivering the results that you want, and at-home devices may seem like a bargain at first, but many of them may turn out to be a waste of time and money.

While in-clinic LLLT treatments are by and large more effective than at-home devices, results can still vary across different machines. At Veritas, we use Soli-lite for our LLLT treatments. Soli-lite is a sophisticated photobiomodulation system with monochromatic light panels to ensure enhanced power and accurate wavelengths are delivered to the tissues, allowing for accelerated biological changes to be induced, and faster results for our patients.
The results of LLLT treatments are cumulative and require consistent treatments at the prescribed intervals by the doctor. We usually recommend a course of 6 to 12 short treatment sessions to be done once or twice a week, depending on the condition of the patient. Most patients notice immediate results after each session, and the cumulative results will continue to improve during the course of the treatment.
FAQs
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is suitable and safe for men and women of any age, regardless of their skin type. It can be easily combined with other treatments such as lasers, injections, hair transplant, etc.
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a non-invasive treatment with no associated side or negative effects. There is no discomfort or pain during treatment with no downtime.
Each session takes about 10-20 minutes, depending on the targeted wavelengths.
As the results of LLLT are cumulative, usually 6 to 12 sessions are recommended at an interval of once to twice a week. Results can usually be seen from the first session onwards, and will continue to improve. After the course of the treatment is completed, the doctor may recommend maintenance sessions to be done at a much longer interval.
Yes. Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) can often enhance the benefits you receive from certain treatments. Patients can experience the synergistic effect of LLLT when used in combination with the following treatments:
- Hair Transplant
- Hair ReStart Lasers
- Exosome Therapy
- LDM Ultrasound
- Skinboosters
- Ellansé
- Lasers
- HIFU
