What is it?

Prone to facial redness? Get a calming relief with our vascular lasers.

The Fotona V3 laser is a long-pulse laser with dual wavelengths, similar to the Cutera Excel V laser. The 532nm VERDE mode is located at one of the oxyhemoglobin absorption peaks, which makes it an ideal candidate for treating surface vascular lesions (usually fine blood vessels). Deeper vessels like eye veins require a deeper wavelength at the VERSA3 mode. The Fotona V3 laser has both, which give it a significant advantage over other lasers like the Dual Yellow or Pro Yellow, since it can reach both the surface and the deeper vessels.

What can it be used for?

  • Spider veins on face and body
  • Port wine stains
  • Redness from active acne
  • Generalised facial redness and rosacea
  • Under eye large veins
  • Deep and large veins

How does it work?

Apart from being at the correct wavelength, these lasers utilize proper pulse durations that ensure proper absorption by redness. Long pulse lasers are needed for hemoglobin absorption – something that short pulse lasers are not able to achieve. There are many gimmicky Gold-Toning or Yellow Light treatments – these are either Q-switched/PICO pulse durations or non-focused beams of light that are completely unsuitable for effective redness treatments.

The dual 532/1064 wavelengths target both deep and surface redness and blood vessels. It is important to understand that long-pulsed 532(green) and 577 (yellow) laser wavelengths are only effective for the surface blood vessels like these:

Deeper or bluish veins like these will require treatment by 1064 or Diode wavelength lasers:

The procedure is usually 20 minutes long, followed by a pampering facial cooling and recovery treatment. Patients may experience some redness (looks like a light blusher) immediately after the treatment which may take a few hours to subside.

What is the Starwalker difference?

This long pulse laser has been proven in clinical studies to be safe with minimal risk of postinflammatory hyperpigmentation on Asian skin types, compared to many other lasers.

Redness or vascular pigments occur in multiple layers of the skin, just like brown pigments like melasma. Treating the superficial vessels is rarely enough to achieve complete resolution. The Fotona V3 laser is in the same class as the Excel V laser and safely treats both deep and superficial redness and blood vessels. This achieves what even the Pro Yellow laser cannot do by itself.

Surface and small redness or red vessels do well with visible light 532/577 long-pulsed options

Deep vessels need longer wavelength long-pulsed options.

FAQs

Each unique patient/condition requires a different treatment protocol. Results are typically seen from the first session and usually can take 2 to 4 sessions to give optimal results.

Each laser shot feels like a small ant bite on the skin and is generally very tolerable. We use Zimmer air cooler technology to maximise comfort.

Depending on individual, there can be some redness after treatment that can last up to a few hours. The appearance is similar to the effect of applying a light blusher.

Sunblock is essential after laser. Depending on your condition or skin type, we may recommend you different proprietary post-care creams as well for optimal results. This is not compulsory but ensures a tailored treatment.

It is safe as the Fotona V3 laser does not break the skin surface and needs no healing of broken skin.

Certain mass market clinic chains offer daily laser regimes. These lasers are usually Q-switched lasers only and do not help with redness or vascular lesions. Those clinics can also only offer one-size fit all treatments due to their quick protocols and limited laser choices.

These frequent treatments are potentially dangerous as seen in these cases of mottled skin noted by dermatologists in the National Skin Centre: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4695430/

Abnormal vessels once removed are permanently gone. However, various lifestyle factors can cause new ones to form and may require maintenance treatments.

The total cost may vary for each patient because this will depend on the severity of each patient’s condition and the area affected. Please bear in mind that we customize our approach for each patient, which means that the components of your combination treatment may not necessarily be the same as the next person’s treatment. We suggest that you come in for a personal consultation so that our doctors can thoroughly assess your condition and map out a specific treatment plan and its corresponding quotation.
