Filler Facelift

What keeps the skin supple and young is its natural ability to produce collagen and hyaluronic acid. Over time, the skin loses its elasticity and volume due to factors like aging, hormonal changes and excessive exposure to the sun.

The lack of hyaluronic acid in the skin can be replaced by dermal fillers that are comprised of the same substance. When injected into the skin, the dermal fillers work to improve the skin’s firmness by drawing and fusing water molecules together resulting in the skin’s volume restoration.

A wide range of temporary and semi-permanent fillers are used by doctors at Veritas Medical aesthetics for facelift procedures. Dr. Chua Cheng Yu holds a certification from Aesthetic Dermatology Educational Group (ADEG) in Singapore, which endorses him as a doctor that is capable and qualified to administer procedures like neuro-toxin injections and other aesthetic treatments. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dermal fillers are substances made up of hyaluronic acid that work to lift drooping skin, smoothen fine lines and wrinkles, as well as restore volume to the skin. In addition to filling in the hollow areas of the face, dermal fillers also stimulate collagen production, resulting in the restoration of the skin’s elasticity.

Hyaluronic acid is a significant factor in serving as the body’s lubricant and shock absorber by binding elastin fibers and collagen with the skin, making it elastic. It is also a crucial factor in giving composition to the skin and maintaining its volume by controlling water stability and distribution of necessary nutrients.

There are a wide range of dermal fillers developed by different brands and they all are not exactly the same when it comes to composition. Also, certain brands may not be suited to treat delicate areas like the eyelids, glabellar, and lips. It is best to inquire with your doctor which dermal filler is best used for your target areas.

Dermal fillers may also be body soluble (e.g. Ellansé® and Radiesse®) or semi-permanent (e.g. Belotero, Juvederm, and Teosyal).

A doctor’s consultation needs to be done before proceeding to a dermal filler treatment. Dr. Chua does a thorough assessment of the patient’s face. During this time, he takes into consideration the results you desire and discusses his recommendations on how to go about the procedure. Setting of proper expectations is vital and it is important that you understand the different aspects involved in obtaining the results you want to achieve.

At Veritas Medical Aesthetics, we ensure that the products we use are safe and FDA approved.

You are suited for this treatment if the improvements you wish to do on your face is located on the areas where dermal fillers can address. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or may have any allergic reactions to certain properties of the fillers or bleeding disorders are advised against doing the procedure.

Depending on the desired effect, the dermal filler works either to improve facial contour, iron out wrinkles and creases on the skin, or add volume to the lips after it is injected using a small needle.

The treatment is quick and should not take longer than 30 minutes to finish.

The pain involved in the treatment is manageable. You can expect to feel a pricking sensation on the area where the syringe is placed to inject the dermal filler. For patients with low pain tolerance, a numbing cream may be applied to the skin to ease any discomfort or pain during the procedure.

You can expect to see immediate results after the treatment that will continue to improve as the months pass. Likewise, certain side effects may be present temporarily such as swelling, bruising, redness, and soreness.

The downtime generally depends on whether you are ready to return to your normal activities immediately after the treatment despite the possible temporary side effects still being visible or not.

The results are temporary, but can last for at least 9 months to a maximum of 4 years depending on the brand used and some factors like lifestyle, age, and skin condition.

Treatment cost varies amongst individuals. It is best to do a consultation first so the doctor can assess your condition thoroughly and give a quotation. Some factors that may affect the cost of your treatment are the products used, areas for treatment, syringe size, and the doctor’s professional fees.

Juvederm works best for restoring skin volume, facial contouring, as well as skin rejuvenation.

Ellansé® and Radiesse® are the best brands to use when it comes to treating bony areas of the face. The composition of these products are firmer than traditional fillers and they are able to create well-defined and natural looking effects that traditional fillers sometimes fail to achieve. Belotero is another brand that works well in improving wrinkles and fine lines around the nose.

Teosyal prides itself for being highly praised as the only approved tear trough filler in the world. Its hyaluronic acid is popularly acknowledged for being non-animal based and effective in hydration.

Although both treatments are performed using injections, they are not the same. Botox work to relax the contracting muscles in the face that cause wrinkles and fine lines, while dermal fillers are used to restore the skin’s elasticity and firmness without affecting the facial muscles.
