Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory facial skin disorder that causes visible blood vessels and is characterized by central face redness. It may produce small, red and pus-filled bumps on the skin. There are 4 types of rosacea, with the most common type (1) being facial redness/flushing. Variants have different presentations such as:
Pimple-like Facial Skin Lesions
Type 2 rosacea acne otherwise known as Papulopustular rosacea – sometimes confused with Acne redness.
Skin Deformities
Type 3 rosacea is known as Rhinophyma. Rhinophyma is when the nose becomes swollen and takes on a bulbous appearance
Eye Symptoms
Type 4 or ocular rosacea, where the eyes look bloodshot and tearful, and vision may be affected.
