LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Unwanted or excessive hair can affect self-esteem and cause psychosocial stress. Many people resort to waxing, threading or even shaving. These methods are often painful and require frequent maintenance treatments as the regrown hair becomes coarser and messy. IPL is another popular option but it is not safe for all skin types and can cause unnecessary pain and downtime.
Benefits and Treatment process
At Veritas Medical Aesthetics, Dr Chua uses the Long Pulse Fotona FRAC3 and VERSA Nd:YAG Laser that is proven to be safe for all skin types to remove hair permanently. This treatment is at times combined with the Starwalker Pigmentation Laser to lighten dark marks/patches that are scars which resulted from shaving or IPL treatments. It is a ‘doctor-only’ procedure to ensure the safety of the treatment.
TREATMENT PROCESS AND BENEFITS
According to clinic studies (1), the Fotona FRAC3 gives better results and is less painful as compared to the VERSA3.
However, both lasers are still more effective than the IPL as IPL can only be used for lighter skin types. The laser permanently removes hair from the very first session. However, different hairs are at different phases of growth hence a few sessions are required to permanently remove all hair. The number of sessions also depend on the skin type and thickness of the hair. As compared to IPL, this treatment requires lesser sessions.
This treatment can be used to remove hair of the following areas:
- Face [upper lip, inter-brow and jawline]
- Arms & Legs
- Belly & Pubic areas
