About the Treatment
BLEND is a proprietary tailored-combination of lasers that provide a no-downtime treatment for pigmentation, blemishes and acne skin conditions. Just like how PERFECT is a proprietary tailored-combination skin resurfacing protocol for skin resurfacing, BLEND is the no-downtime version of it.
A simple image shows how complex pigmentation and blemishes in the skin are: they usually exist on many different layers and with many different components:

It makes sense that for a successful treatment of pigmentation, all different layers need to be reached. The most popular picosecond lasers can only effectively reach the epidermal layers, hence would pale in comparison with a combination protocol that INCLUDES picosecond lasers.
Similarly, acne usually presents in many forms, from small comedonal acne (blackheads and whiteheads) to medium sized pustules, and large nodules/cysts. These require different laser combinations to properly tackle in each treatment session.
The BLEND combination laser protocol can:
- treat active acne
- fade acne marks
- prevent acne from recurring

When it comes to beating acne and the damage it leaves in its wake, BLEND offers a laser acne treatment protocol that provides a comprehensive solution to acne problems.
How Does It Work?
Different types of lasers are used during this treatment session to target the various skin blemishes. The combination of lasers used depends on the individual skin type and problem, and can be a combination of three or more different lasers.
Because some of these lasers are used in the deep skin layers, they also help tighten facial ligaments and improve facial laxity. You can expect a gradual youthfulness and facial rejuvenation as your blemishes and acne fades.

FAQs
For active acne, Fotona’s long pulse lasers penetrate deep into the skin and is absorbed by the inflamed acne lesions, leading to anti-inflammatory effects and destroying of the acne-causing bacteria.
On top of the thermal effects, the Nd:YAG acne laser treatment also accelerates the healing process and stimulates collagen remodelling, which is an important step in the long-term treatment of acne. The oil glands are also decreased in size and activity to prevent future acne outbreaks.
Some examples of lasers used in BLEND:
- Fotona Starwalker Picosecond laser fades brown PIH marks effectively.
- VERDE and VERSA3 laser fades red PIE marks
- FracPICO laser treats depressed acne scars by floating them up
A patient will be presented with a suggested treatment plan at an initial consultation, which may include some treatments best done 2-4 weeks apart. At the time of treatment, the skin will be cleansed and eye protection will be worn by the patient. The laser treatment is then commenced and will go over the skin in a wand-like movement. You can feel heating and snapping sensations; however, these are highly tolerable.
The treatment is performed with a ZImmer Skin cooler for maximum comfort and safety. Most patients tolerate the session with little to no discomfort
BLEND was designed to minimise side effects while maximising effectiveness. Mild side effects such as irritation and redness may initially be present, but can be customised to minimise.
On the average, a single session can take 15-20 minutes.
There are minimal side effects because different lasers are used in combination to treat different components of active and old acne. By doing so, the most suitable laser is used for each component. Many other treatments use only a single laser modality to treat all skin components which could result in undesirable side effects.
The skin may appear pink or red, post treatment for less than an hour.
Due to the minimally invasive nature of the treatments, you can expect only a little downtime.
There is no definite number of sessions that may be given unless a personal consultation and evaluation was first carried out. Only then can the doctor estimate the number of sessions needed based on the severity of your case.
It is best to avoid sun exposure before, during and after your treatment.
The total cost may vary for each patient because this will depend on the severity of each patient’s condition and the area affected. Please bear in mind that we customize our approach for each patient, which means that the components of your combination treatment may not necessarily be the same as the next person’s treatment. We suggest that you come in for a personal consultation so that Dr. Chua can thoroughly assess your condition and map out a specific treatment plan and its corresponding quotation.
The long term prevention effects of this laser protocol can make the results long lasting and even permanent for those who do not have new pigmentation or acne causing predisposing factors.
